The Usborne Fairy Tale Treasure

The Usborne Fairy Tale Treasure este una dintre acele cărți în fața cărora îți vine să-ți scoți pălăria. 

Cuprinsul ei este foarte bogat, ilustrațiile suave, pastelate nu pot decât să îți mângîie sufletul, cartonul din care e realizată este gros, lucios, iar semnul de carte din satin întregește perfect acest tablou frumos.

După cum puteți singuri observa, odată deschisă, cartea ne invită să parcurgem 18 adaptări ale unor povești semnate de Frații Grimm, de Hans Christian Andersen, Charles Perrault și alții.

Ceea ce îmi place cel mai mult este faptul că multe dintre ele ne sunt necunoscute (deci, citim povești complet noi), ba mai mult, ele sunt în așa fel selectate, încât să facem un micuț tur al continentelor prin lecturarea lor.

De mare ajutor ne sunt explicațiile de la finalul cărții, cele în care, despre fiecare poveste în parte, aflăm câte ceva interesant. 

Iată, spre exemplu, ce ni se spune despre The Frog Prince, The Fairy at the Well, Twelve Dancing Princesses și Fearless Hans:

It was the first day of spring and, all across Persia, people were celebrating. They danced and laughed and picnicked in the warm sunshine. And, beneath the golden domes of his palace, the Sultan was greeting his people. […]

The palace steps were piled with curious clocks and intriguing astronomical instruments, when a man appeared leading a horse. He pushed his way rudely to the front.

The man had a crooked body and cold eyes, but the horse was magnificent. It had glossy, ebony-black coat and its saddle sparkled with jewels. But there was something strange about it… It stepped stiffly, without looking left or right. […]
