Over 50 Brain Games (Usborne)

Recomand cu toată căldura seria de cărticele Învăț devreme! Matematica, publicate de editura Gama cu nu foarte mult timp in urmă. 

Am descoperit în ele o sursă nemaipomenit de frumoasă de jocuri și activități matematice, pe care le-am devorat cu repeziciune, având in vedere faptul ca M. era deja mai mare de 5 anișori (vârsta până la care sunt recomandate).

Mi-am dorit extrem de mult să continuu să lucrez cu M. în același stil foarte interesant pentru copil, jucăuș și plin de culoare, iar Ioana (Cărți engleză copii) mi-a sărit in ajutor cu Over 50 Brain Games, o carte destinată copiilor de 7 ani în sus. 

Nu este o carte de dimensiuni mari (198 x 130mm), dar are 112 pagini ticsite de jocuri de logică, jocuri de cuvinte, geometrie plană, algebră, ghicitori, puzzle-uri, iluzii optice, exerciții de testat atenția, răbdarea și observația, de citit ceasul, de găsit diferența, ba chiar de înmulțire și împărțire.

De ce o recomand cu atâta ardoare?

Deoarece absolut fiecare exercițiu este cu grijă ales, are cerințe clare (adesea sub forma unor succinte povești), logice, ilustrațiile sunt extrem de atrăgătoare, iar umorul este la el acasă pe fiecare pagină!

Cel mai mult ne-au încântat jocurile de genul „tricky questions”, cu precădere acela în care ni se spune că avem șase portocale într-o plasă, portocale pe care suntem rugați să le împărțim în șase în așa fel încât în plasă să ne rămână o portocală!

Nu mai lungesc vorba, ci trec la alte exemplificări concrete, deoarece știu că asta vă doriți cel mai mult.

Așadar, iată cum sună câteva dintre jocurile propuse în carte:

~ Study this scene, then compare it with the one on the right. Circle ten differences in this scene.

~ Four greedy polar bears can’t learn to share their fish holes. The only way to settle the argument is to divide the ice into four pieces, each with its own fishing hole.

Each piece must have 16 squares, and they must all be the same shape. One piece has been drawn for you – can you draw the others?

~ Cutting the red hexagon in half, as shown below, makes two pieces that are exactly the same shape.

Some of the shapes on the right can be made by two smaller pieces that are the same shape as the hexagon halves, and some of them can’t.

Draw circles around the shapes that can’t be made by two pieces like the ones shown below.

~ There are nine squares in the grid below. Can you write the numbers 1 to 9 in the grid, so that each horizontal, vertical and diagonal line adds up to 15? Two numbers have been filled in for you.

~ Draw circles around the two groups of clogs that match each other exactly when one is turned over and rotated.

~ Look closely at these pictures, then answer the questions. The answers may not be quite what you expect…

1. Which of these lines is longer, A or B?

2. Which line follows the same path as the white line – red, blue, yellow or green?

3. Which of the middle circles is bigger, A or B?

4. Which of these pictures are the four balls further up the background, A or B?

~ Can you place ten flowerpots in the garden below, so that they are arranged in five lines, with four pots in each line? The lines can go vertically, horizontally or diagonally, and will make up a familiar shape – the flowerpots below may give you a clue…

~ Each column of clock faces on the right follows a different pattern. Can you see what the patterns are, then fill in the hour and minute hands on the blank clock faces?

~ Nine friends are staying in the rooms at the front of this hotel, but can you puzzle out whose room is whose?

Write their initials in the correct windows.

Mandy’s room is directly above Emily’s and next to Alan’s.

~ The trays A, B, C and D all look like the tray below, shown from different angles. However, only one of the trays has the shapes inside arranged in exactly the same way.

Draw a circle around the one that matches.

Noi am lucrat multe, multe zile din această carte, mă declar total mulțumită de ea îmi doresc să mai găsesc printre „rafturile” atât de ofertante ale editurii Usborne publicații asemănătoare, ce să pună la treabă creierașul puiului meu și să-i demonstreze cât de distractivă și plăcută poate fi matematica!
